Wow—the Super Bowl was an old-fashioned ass-whooping.
First things first—when are we making this a holiday? I saw a stat this morning that 22 million Americans are skipping work today. Just accept that football runs America. It’s time to make Super Bowl Monday an official day off. Let everyone enjoy Sunday and recover on Monday.
For those of you who listened on Friday, you know I had a simple reminder for you - go ahead and indulge, just get your ass to the gym on Monday Morning. So I hope that you did both.
We went to Hayley’s parents to watch the game - her mom made a Chicken Roast Dinner with gravy, stuffing and all the fixings.. Felt like it was thanksgiving or xmas dinner. Best super bowl meal I’ve ever had and it made up for a shitty ass game.
I gotta be honest, this entire episode hurts me to produce as a Cowboys fan, but the show must go on.
I don’t think anyone saw that coming. The Eagles absolutely dominated from start to finish. They held the ball for almost 37 minutes. It was 34-0 at one point. I’ve never seen Mahomes look that lost in his career. The entire Eagles team deserved that win, and I’m happy Hurts won the MVP.
Game Takeaways:
The Eagles’ defensive line ate. I don’t remember seeing them blitz once—they consistently generated pressure with 4-5 guys up front. Mahomes looked completely lost. They forced him off his spot, had him moving before he even hit his drop step, and never let him get comfortable.
Fangio couldn’t have drawn up a better game plan. A guy who doesn’t like to blitz and his D Line showed that he doesn’t need to with this bunch. They were able to sit in their two high shell for most of the game. That means corners and linebackers can stay aggressive knowing that they have safety help over the top. They were also able to play zone with 7 guys in coverage trusting their front four to generate pressure.
They have a deep, young rotation of pass rushers and two rookie corners. Scary hours for the rest of the league going forward.
Speaking of corners, we’ll move to some Birthday Shoutouts
Cooper DeJean—putting on for white cornerbacks everywhere. Cooper undercut a Mahomes throw and returned it to the crib. That birthday will never be topped. He’s the second white corner to start in the NFL since, pour one out for, another NFC East Guy, Jason Sehorn. Fun fact: Riley Moss, DeJean’s former Iowa teammate, was the first, starting last year for the Broncos.
Quads is the ultimate team player. On their first possession, when Hurts went deep to A.J. Brown on 4th down (the phantom push-off call), Barkley stepped up and picked up the blitz, giving Hurts the time to make the throw. Small plays like that win games.
This guy could’ve gone for the single-season rushing record in a meaningless Week 18 game, but he put the team first. He sat out, got some rest, and stayed locked in on the bigger picture. Smart move—it paid off for the entire organizaiton. Plus, he set an even bigger record, breaking Terrel T.D.l Davis’ 27 year old single season rushing record including the playoffs with 2467 yards.
Jalen Hurts
It’s hard for me to say this as a Cowboys fan, but this guy is a stud. He heard the hate all season. He got benched at Alabama in the national championship, lost the Super Bowl two years ago, and came back stronger every time. He finishes the season 16-2 with 42 total TD’s and 8 turnovers. Incredible numbers. With Hurts and Barkely, you’re seeing two players who don’t care about the stats and just want to win.
On top of that, Hurts has an all-women management team—his agent, marketing director, the whole squad. They are all winning.
And let’s not forget—the man can dress. Always clean, giving 90s mob vibes. That shot of him smoking a cigar in his Jordan-inspired fit after the NFC Championship? Hang that in The Linc immediately.
Howie Roseman: Give This Man His Flowers
This guy was writing letters to NFL teams in high school, stayed persistent in college. Had an interview with the Jets who turned him down then got his first NFL job in 2000 as a Front Office Intern for the Eagles. Since then, he’s continued to work his way up to GM and Vice President.
I said on Friday that the Eagles were better on paper, but I still took Mahomes and Reid. I was wrong.
Sunday was a reminder: Football is the ultimate team sport. Philly won at every single position.
On top of bringing in Barkley and AJ Brown in recent offseasons.. He brought in Zach Baun on a bargain. Roseman has drafted at an elite level the past few years. Look at these recent classes of players who are playing on rookie deals:
2024: Cooper DeJean, Quinyon Mitchell & Hunt
2023: Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith
2022: Jordan Davis, Cam Jurgens, Nakobe Dean
Then the 2021 draft class featured DeVonta Smith & Landon Dickerson who have already earned their 2nd contracts.
That’s how you build a contender. The Eagles are set for years. NFC east is in trouble unless you have Jayden Daniels.
The Chiefs: Not Much to Say…
Hopkins Anytime TD! He pulled up in his late dad’s mink jacket, saying he’d wear it to his wedding or a Super Bowl—whichever came first. He wore it last night, so I had to throw down on a Hopkins Anytime TD and the over 1.5 receptions. That was about the only thing that hit yesterday. But… he also had a massive drop in the first half.
The only other bright spot? Xavier Worthy setting the record for most receiving yards by a rookie in the super bowl as he went for 8-157-2. Tyreek 2.0. The Chiefs lined him up all over the field, scheming ways to get him the ball. He made several big plays and balled out on the biggest stage. Big-time rookie performance.
Player Bonuses
And hey, winning pays—literally. Every Eagles player just cashed in $171,000 for that win, while the Chiefs took home $96,000 each. That’s a serious payday, especially for younger guys still on rookie deals. Imagine being a late-round pick or undrafted guy and taking home a six-figure bonus. Not bad for a night’s work!
Halftime Show: Great Message, Mid Execution
I respect the message. I respect the artistry. But the performance didn’t fully hit.
I loved the Uncle Samuel L. Jackson feature. I loved Serena crip-walking on em. But the song choices could’ve been rolled out better. He’s got some of the biggest bangers in the game right now, and I don’t think that translated. This one felt a little disjointed.

That’s it for today! Hope y’all have a great week. We’ll dive into some NBA and NFL offseason talk on Friday!
