This One Word Will Make You Happier

Ever feel weighed down by the things you have to do?

  • I have to go to work.

  • I have to work out.

  • I have to study this course.

  • I have to call my mom.

What if you simply replace have with get? You’ll instantly change your perspective.

  • I get to go to work.

  • I get to work out.

  • I get to study this course.

  • I get to call my mom.

Put yourself in someone else’s shoes—would you rather be around someone who says, “I have to go to work” or “I get to go to work”?

One word. Massive shift.

When you lose your job, you no longer get to go to work.

When you’re injured, you no longer get to work out.

When you don’t have access to learning, you no longer get to study.

When your mom is gone, you no longer get to call her.

“I have to” comes from a place of obligation.

“I get to”
comes from a place of gratitude.

When you choose to see an opportunity in every task—no matter how mundane or challenging—you begin to appreciate it much more.

Your perspective is your choice.

The next time you're about to say, "I have to," pause and ask yourself:

  • What am I grateful for in this situation?

  • How is this moment an opportunity to grow, improve, or make an impact?

When you learn to appreciate the little things, you will find yourself happier more often.

You begin to see daily opportunities instead of obligations.

If there’s one habit to start today, it’s this: Reframe just one “have to” as a “get to” every day.

Over time, you’ll notice how much lighter life feels.

Your perspective is powerful—choose it wisely.

Here’s to seeing opportunity everywhere.

How do you practice gratitude? How do you remind yourself of your blessings?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Share your tips with me, and let’s start the week with a shift in perspective!
