Learn To Enjoy Each Chapter

Too often, we rush through life chasing the next big thing, believing happiness is waiting for us after we achieve a goal. But what if it takes 18 months? Five years? A lifetime? If we can’t find joy in the journey, we’ll spend most of our lives waiting for happiness instead of living it.

Happiness Is a Choice

It is 100% your duty to learn to enjoy every chapter of your life.

It’s a choice that requires taking full accountability.

It’s a choice that requires gratitude.

It’s a choice you must make if you want to live a fulfilling life.

I often hear people say:

"I can’t wait until I get to that next step."

"I can’t wait until I have [insert a material item that won’t actually change your life]."

Don’t get me wrong—it’s great to have goals, to look forward to milestones, and to celebrate when you get there. But if all we do is focus on what’s next, we miss the beauty of right now.

What If It Takes Longer Than Expected?

Are we really going to delay our joy for months—or even years—just because we’re not at the finish line yet?

  • Are we not going to enjoy the climb?

  • Are we not going to celebrate the small wins along the way?

  • Are we going to be angry each time we’re forced to take a different path to the destination?

Life rarely follows a straight line. It throws unexpected detours, roadblocks, and curveballs. But what if those detours are leading us somewhere better than we originally planned?

You Can’t Have Sunshine Without Rain

Think about that for a second.

If everything came easy, if success was handed to us, would we even appreciate it? Would it really feel special?

The struggles, the setbacks, the obstacles—they add meaning to the journey. They make the wins feel like wins.

Finding Joy in the Everyday

I try my best to enjoy the process. To find joy in the little moments that make up my day:

  • Can I find joy in writing this newsletter for you?

  • Can I find joy in making my breakfast?

  • Can I find joy in solving a problem this morning?

  • Can I find joy in calling my grandma?

The answer? Yes, I can. I find joy in all of those things.

Not because life is perfect. Not because every day is easy. But because I choose to.

Your Turn—What Will You Choose?

This isn’t to say life will always be sunshine and rainbows. There will be challenges. There will be setbacks. There will be days when you don’t feel like showing up.

But that’s what makes it fun.

  • Being challenged.

  • Overcoming the obstacle.

  • Getting stronger.

  • Getting one step closer.

Because in the end, the journey is the reward.

Let’s Put This Into Action

Reply in the comments with three things you’re going to find joy in today.

Big or small—it doesn’t matter.

Because joy isn’t something you find later. It’s something you create now.
